Project
My research activity is related to the ERC DUO project. Situated at the interface between heterogeneous and homogeneous catalysis, the Ph.D. project is aimed at (1) the systematic development of synthetic strategies towards novel heterobimetallic complexes combining early and late transition metals and (2) their covalent grafting onto silica or metal oxide supports as discrete, molecular catalysts. Owing to the cooperativity across the polar metal-metal bond and their site isolation on custom-built oxide surfaces, these Dual-Atom Catalysts (DAC) are expected to be highly reactive and ideally suited to promote unusual pathways of heterolytic bond cleavage or small-molecule activation.
