SMART HYBRID NANO-COMPOSITE DEVICES FOR METAL EXTRACTION

The main principle of this project is related to the immobilization intoor onto technical fabric of surface-functionalized nanostructured ZrO2 by organic phosphonic acid ligands that has a strong affinity for for different precious metals such as Ru, Rh, Pd and Au.

Our main goal is then to develop smart nano-composites with mechanical structures that can afford high water flow as well as high and selective removal capacities, fast adsorption rates and recycling properties. In this projerct, we successed to develop a new design for effective metal cations removal through nanotechnology-integrated treatment systems: combining surface-functionalized nano-structured zirconium oxide, with strong affinity to inorganic cations, and immobilized into or onto a fabric.

Our project also builds on the long-term collaboration between CP2M and ICSM partners on the synthesis of novel nanostructured hybrid materials.

 

my work consisted of :

Study the nature and density of the organic groups.

Surface modification methodology.

Adsorption sutdy.

Some routine and in-depth characterizations such as 13C, 31P solid state NMR, powder X-Ray diffraction, TGA, UV-visible, FT-IR, determination of specific surface area by BET method, zeta potential and elemental analysis which systematically done by CP2M and ICSM.
