Project

My research is part of the DYNABIOCAT project. The aim of this project is to develop an efficient alternative way to transform carbone dioxide. The selected approach is to study a biocatalyst, the Carbonic Anhydrase, encapsulated in an hydrogel for better catalytic and lifetime performances. The role of this biocatalyst is to convert the dissolved CO2 into carbamates. In ordre to improve the CO2 dissolution, pivotal for high enzymatic transformation performances, the reaction will be implemented in an innovative Elastic Foam Reactor (EFR). This breakthrough technology relies upon compressed/relaxed cycles of an elastomeric polymer placed within an column in order to enhance the gas-liquid mass transfer.

In this context, my works consists in :

- Characterize this novel reactor, in particular, as it relates to the gas-liquid transfer ;

- Testing the feasibility of using this technology for the enzymatic transformation of the dissolved CO2 with the selected biocatalyst.
