Monsieur Damien MONTARNAL, Chargé de Recherche CNRS at the CP2M was awarded the 2021 CNRS Bronze Medla for his research on the physical chemistry of polymers.

Congratulations to Damien for this disctinction!!

After a hundred years of intense academic and industrial developments driven by the discovery of polymers, there is still plenty of room for creativity in this inherently multidisciplinary field. However, plastics are increasingly facing environmental and societal challenges, which also translate into technical challenges at the scale of fundamental research laboratories. In line with his thesis work on "vitrimers", Damien Montarnal, a researcher at the CP2M laboratory, is interested in the design and characterization of dynamically cross-linked polymers as recyclable or reprocessable alternatives to conventional thermoset polymers. Thanks to valuable collaborations with researchers from multiple backgrounds, his work is positioned at the interface of macromolecular engineering, materials science and soft matter.
